Your treatment options

What we look for during a maintenance visit

Removing stain or calculus is useful, but a maintenance visit also checks for changes that are easy to miss at home.

01

Decay risk

New lesions, exposed roots, dry mouth, diet and fluoride use can affect the preventive plan and recall interval.

02

Gum and implant maintenance

Pocket measurements, bleeding and access around crowns, implants or orthodontic appliances influence the type of cleaning needed.

03

What you can manage at home

We show you the areas that are being missed and recommend brushes or interdental tools that fit your mouth and daily routine.

Treatment options

Check-ups, professional cleaning and whitening

Insured care and self-pay cleaning have different indications and contents. We explain which applies before treatment.

Examination and insured care

When a clinical diagnosis and your insurance eligibility meet Japanese requirements, examination and necessary cleaning may be covered. Your out-of-pocket amount depends on the care provided.

30-minute enamel-care cleaning

A self-pay full-mouth enamel-apatite coating course without added options.

¥13,200 including tax.

60- or 90-minute courses

Longer self-pay courses include additional options selected from the clinic menu.

¥22,000 for 60 minutes or ¥33,000 for 90 minutes.

Whitening

Cleaning removes surface deposits and stain. Whitening is a separate self-pay treatment intended to change the colour of natural teeth.

After your examination, we will explain the recommended option, total fee and expected schedule before you decide.

Examination and treatment planning

A check-up tailored to your oral health

Orthodontics, implants, new restorations, pregnancy, medication and changes in dexterity can alter cleaning needs. We review the plan whenever your oral health or circumstances change.

  • Decay, early changes and condition of existing restorations
  • Gum pockets, bleeding, calculus and implant tissues
  • Plaque pattern and areas missed during home care
  • Dry mouth, fluoride exposure, diet and sensitivity
  • Cleaning access around braces, retainers, bridges and implants

Plaque, calculus and surface stain are removed using the method appropriate for the findings and chosen course.

We show the sites that need attention and adjust brushes, interdental cleaning or fluoride advice.

  4. Step 4

    Set the next review

The interval is based on current risk and treatment history and can change as the mouth becomes more or less stable.

Treatment details

Fees, treatment time and possible risks

The figures below are general guides. After examining you, we will provide a written estimate and expected schedule.

Treatment
Dental examination, professional cleaning, home-care instruction and optional self-pay enamel-care cleaning.
Fees
Insurance may apply when clinically indicated and eligibility requirements are met. Self-pay full-mouth enamel-care cleaning is ¥13,200 for 30 minutes, ¥22,000 for 60 minutes or ¥33,000 for 90 minutes, including tax.
Time and visits
Maintenance is commonly scheduled every few months, but the interval is adjusted to the condition of the teeth and gums. A single cleaning course lasts 30, 60 or 90 minutes as selected.
Possible risks and side effects
Teeth can feel temporarily sensitive after cleaning. Gum bleeding may occur where inflammation is present. Preventive care can reduce risk but cannot guarantee that decay or gum disease will never occur; home care and appropriate follow-up remain necessary.

Amounts include tax. Self-pay care is not covered by Japanese public health insurance. When insured care may apply, eligibility and cost depend on the diagnosis and your insurance status.

Frequently asked questions

Questions about dental cleaning and check-ups

How often should I have a dental check-up?

Every few months is a common guide, but the right interval depends on decay risk, gum health, implants, restorations, appliances and home cleaning.

Will cleaning make my teeth white?

Cleaning can remove surface stain and deposits. It does not change the natural internal colour in the way whitening is intended to do.

Can I book only a cleaning?

A dental examination may still be needed so the correct type of care can be selected and untreated disease is not overlooked.

Is dental cleaning covered by Japanese insurance?

It may be when a diagnosis and your insurance eligibility meet Japanese requirements. Self-pay cleaning courses are also available and are priced separately.

Do implants and crowns need special maintenance?

They often need adapted cleaning around their margins and supporting tissues. The dentist or hygienist will show the tools and interval suited to your restoration.
